LibreOffice and mySQL (mariaDB)

I was unable to connect my mySQL (mariadb) database to libreoffice. The problem was the timezone.

The error message was:

The server time zone value 'EEST'  is unrecognized or represents more than one time zone.

The solution

The solution was to manually specify the URL to:mysql://localhost:3306/ooobase?serverTimezone=Europe/Athens

In JDBC properties write: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver

UTF-8

For utf-8 add &characterEncoding=UTF-8
